Last week on the 11th of March we had Dennis and Michael from the Mahboub family come to the school to give a talk about the Penny Farthing bicycles. Little did we know that one of our students, Sam, competed in the National Penny Farthing Championships, coming second in his age group! Dennis told us about the history of the Penny Farthing and showed us his skill on an adult-size bicycle before Sam hopped on his bike and did a lap of the playground. The images show Michael on a 'boneshaker' one of the first bicycles designed before the Penny Farthing became popular, along with Dennis and Sam showing their skills. Thanks Mahboub family for a real treat, we learnt a lot!
